Our quest for these flavorful little cinnamon bits started with some loose cinnamon green tea we bought. We didn’t like the tea, but there were these little nibblets of cinnamon bark in it that we discovered were very tasty to munch. Yes, actually eating pieces of cinnamon bark! It is spicy, naturally quite sweet, and almost like tiny cinnamon candies but without the sugar. They are a little woody, but since they’re so small, it doesn’t seem like you’re eating bark.
Our cinnamon-eating habit might have ended with the end of that bag of tea, but we had heard that cinnamon is supposed to be really good for balancing blood sugar levels and it’s also said to reduce inflammation. So we did a bit of research and found that cinnamon offers quite a few other health benefits as well. In order to tap into those benefits, a person would only need to use about a quarter to a half teaspoon of cinnamon on a regular basis.
How We Use Cinnamon Bits
Powdered cinnamon is great, and it’s real nice to sprinkle on toast, oatmeal, fruit – you know – all the regular uses. But we wanted to use a half teaspoon in the mornings, and that didn’t fit real well with the eggs we usually have for breakfast (and besides, we REALLY like these cinnamon bits). So instead, we put a little teacup of cinnamon bits on the table for everyone to nibble on throughout the day. The kids love it because it’s sweet. And I love it because I know I’m NOT snacking on something that’s NOT good for me. Try it! We think you’ll like Cinnamon Bits!
